Scott was first elected as a Member of Parliament on June 28th, 2004 for the riding, which at the time was called Bonavista-Exploits. Scott has since been elected five more times in what is now known as Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame.
Scott has served in several roles over his time in the House of Commons, including multiple critic roles, and as different caucus and committee Chairs. In the 43rdParliament, Scott is Chair of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, President of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association, and Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federal Liberal Caucus.
Prior to his election, Scott delivered the weather forecast nationally on the Weather Network. He is a graduate of Mount Allison University in New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Commerce, and continued his education at Loyalist College where he studied broadcast journalism.
Scott was born and raised in Bishop’s Falls and maintains a residence nearby. Scott has one son, Jackson.
